No Office Hours this week: Wednesday Nov. 22nd

We know everyone’s schedules can get crazy around the holidays, so we decided to cancel CMLE Office Hours for this week, November 22nd.  (Of course, if you need to connect with us sooner rather than later, please email us at admin@cmle.org and we’ll work something out!)

In fact, as we look at CMLE’s calendar for the rest of 2017, we will be slightly adjusting the dates of upcoming Office Hours. Read on for the new dates!

CMLE will be holding office hours at our Headquarters location: 570 1st St. SE St. Cloud MN 56304 on the following dates between the hours of 11am – 1pm:

Wednesday, November 29th
Wednesday, December 13th
Wednesday, December 20th

We will be happy to see you on these dates to discuss any library topics or challenges, no appointment necessary! As always, Office Dog Lady Grey will likely be making an appearance in case you need a soothing animal presence during this stressful time of year!

Let’s do a CMLE Group Visit to SCSU’s Library!

We always have fun during group visits to member libraries, and we think a visit to SCSU’s library would be both fun and valuable!

Being able to tour a member library can give you some inspiration and ideas for your own library, and introduce you to other members in the CMLE system. Plus, you will get a chance to meet the new library Dean!

Let’s narrow down some dates to see what will work best for people who want to attend. Right now we are thinking late December, after the semester ends, or early January before everything gets moving too fast. Give us some idea of your preferences, and we can set up a date for a visit.

Please vote! Looking forward to seeing you!

This is our last episode of Season Two! It has been great talking about all these topics this season, and communicating with you. Thanks so much for downloading and listening – it means a lot to us. We are already starting to work on Season Three, which will start early in 2018. And in the meantime, you can go to our website, and subscribe to our weekly newsletter, our social media, our online book groups. You can listen to all of our archive of podcast episodes from Seasons One and Two on our website (or your favorite app!). So we are not leaving you; we just have some different communication strategies to connect with you!

This week we are talking about the impact libraries have on their community, and ways to evaluate your Return on Investment (or ROI).

You know libraries are great. We know libraries are great. But, do your patrons know all about it? How about your Board? Your funders?

It is not enough to be able to say, “we are so neat!” and expect people to give you money and support. Instead, you need to be able to show, with specific data, how neat you are. Fortunately, this is amazingly easy to do! Any type of library and information science organization, including libraries of all types, archives, museums, and more, all will make big returns on the investments made in us. We just have to be able to show it, and then to loudly share that information with everyone else!
