CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) invites proposals for concurrent sessions to be presented during the 2018 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference. The conference will be held June 21 – 26 in New Orleans, La. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. Central on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017.

AASL seeks proposals for 60-minute concurrent sessions. All programs should include up to three learning objectives and should address how the session supports the AASL standards and strategic plan.

Librarianship may be said to be facing an identity crisis. It may also be said that librarianship has been facing an identity crisis since it was proposed as a profession. With the advent of technology that lowers barriers to the access of information, the mission of a library has become indistinct.  This volume will explore the current purpose of librarianship and libraries, how we become “Masters of our Domains”, develop expertise in various elements of the profession, and how we extend outward into our communities.

The purpose of the monograph will be on how to incorporate assessment and analysis work into a library’s existing workflow.

Intended Audience: Technical services managers, administrators, and deans, anyone interested in learning more about employing assessment in their work.
