Are you working with Indigenous Archives, Libraries, or Museums?

To maximize training opportunities for people engaged in sustaining and advancing indigenous culture, the Institute of Museum and Library Services is providing up to $75,000 in scholarship funding for eligible applicants to attend the 2017 International Conference of Indigenous Archives, Libraries, and Museums at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa, located on the Santa Ana Pueblo outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Pre-conference workshops take place on Tuesday, October 10 and conference sessions are scheduled Wednesday, October 11 and Thursday, October 12.

ALA Diversity Research Grant available!

The American Library Association (ALA) Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services seeks proposals for the Diversity Research Grant program. Applications may address any diversity-related topic which addresses critical gaps in the knowledge of diversity, equity, and outreach issues within library and information science.

The application deadline has been extended to midnight central time on April 15, 2017.

The Diversity Research Grant consists of a one-time $2,500 award for original research. A jury of ALA members will evaluate proposals and select up to three awards. Grant recipients will be announced ahead of the 2017 ALA Annual Conference. Researchers are invited to present interim findings at the News You Can Use Diversity Research Grant Update held each ALA Midwinter Meeting and are asked to publish findings in a publication of their choosing within one year of completing their project.

ALCTS Exchange

 

The ALCTS Exchange is extending its call for virtual poster presentations until March 17, 2017

The ALCTS Exchange virtual poster session offers the opportunity to share and promote work, research, and ideas across the ALCTS Exchange’s topical themes: new roles and workflows, creative problem solving, creating connections with user communities, and building skills to prepare for the future. We are especially interested in highlighting work that addresses the intersections of collections and technical services and diversity and inclusion.

The ALCTS Exchange will include two poster presentation opportunities:

  • A poster lightning round session on May 11, wherein each presenter will have five minutes to speak, followed by a Q&A discussion forum.
  • A virtual poster collection and discussion forum available to Exchange registrants. File formats are not limited to static documents and presenters are encouraged submit videos and other types of media files. If you would like to submit a recorded video for the virtual poster collection, the ALCTS office will be available to assist with your recording.

The Reference and User Services Association, (RUSA) seeks proposals for webinars and online courses. The proposals must be submitted by October 31, 2016 for presentation November 2016 to August 2017.
