What are we doing today? winter logo

Join us here each week. We will provide activities for all ages, with online activities and some things to do on your own. It’s winter, we’re having a pandemic, and there should be a lot of staying at home. But that doesn’t mean being bored! Dive in here, and let’s do some fun things!

Virtual Travel

Grab your passport, and let’s hop a flight to China to visit an amazing museum: the National Palace Museum!

Welcome to 720° VR National Palace Museum. In this virtual reality space, you can visit the National Palace Museum and its permanent exhibitions anytime, anywhere; observe and/or listen to in-depth descriptions of selected artifacts; and/or select featured tour routes to quickly browse through various exhibition items. Now, please follow the arrow on the floor and begin your journey!”

Let’s Move

Staying inside a lot means most of us are doing less moving around. More exercise helps us to keep our anxiety levels down and to release chemicals to keep us happy. So, let’s have some fun this week!

STEM Project

Catch a cloud in a jar. “On a recent foggy walk to school, my 3 year old, Q,  asked what made fog. Making a cloud in a jar was the perfect opportunity to show him just how clouds and fog (which is just low lying clouds) are formed.  With virtually no prep and no cost, this super cool demonstration will have you playing Zeus, the god of weather, all afternoon.”

Academic Fun

Reindeer Racing! “Read about the Sami people and how reindeer factor into their lives. Then choose some of the math problems, extensions, or worksheets to try.”

Book Challenge

It’s not exactly a secret: we are big fans of books and of reading! Check out this week’s book challenge for some ideas for more books to read and to share.

Books to Read Before Turning 80: This is a reading list of personal book choices, books that I want to read before turning 80 years old.”

Arts and Crafts

Mondrian Heart Art for Kids: “This Mondrian Heart Art Project for kids has been designed to suit children of all ages; from a simple colour and stick project for preschoolers, to designing Mondrian inspired art; along with hints and tips for taking the project a step further with geometric and colour play.”

Calm and Background

All of this staying home, working at home, studying at home – it can be hard. It may be helpful to have a calming influence to watch while you are working. Click on this video, sit back, close your eyes, and just spends a few minutes letting your mind drift and relax.

Pafuli – We will definitely meet, we will warm up together in front of the fireplace on a snowy day
