Join us here each week. We will provide activities for all ages, with online activities and some things to do on your own. It’s winter, we’re having a pandemic, and there should be a lot of staying at home. But that doesn’t mean being bored! Dive in here, and let’s do some fun things!
Virtual Travel
This week, we are going to explore Pakistan on Google! Join in all the adventures ahead.
“Pakistan, officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is a country in South Asia. It is the world’s fifth-most populous country with a population exceeding 212.2 million. By area, it is the 33rd-largest country, spanning 881,913 square kilometres. Pakistan has a 1,046-kilometre coastline along the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman in the south and is bordered by India to the east, Afghanistan to the west, Iran to the southwest, and China to the northeast. It is separated narrowly from Tajikistan by Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor in the northwest, and also shares a maritime border with Oman.
“The territory that now constitutes Pakistan was the site of several ancient cultures and intertwined with the history of the broader Indian subcontinent. The ancient history involves the Neolithic site of Mehrgarh and the Bronze Age Indus Valley Civilisation, and was later home to kingdoms ruled by people of different faiths and cultures, including Hindus, Indo-Greeks, Muslims, Turco-Mongols, Afghans and Sikhs.”
Let’s Move
When we are all home, it’s easy to sit around and relax into watching Netflix or read all those library books on your TBR list. That stuff is good too – but let’s take a few minutes to get up, to bounce around, and to get some blood flowing! Join P.E. With Joe to have fun today!!
STEM Project: How Much Weight Can Aluminum Foil Boats Float?
“Have you ever wondered how a ship made of steel can float? If you drop a steel bolt in a bucket of water, the bolt quickly sinks to the bottom. Then how can a steel ship float? And better yet, how can a steel ship carry a heavy load without sinking? It has to do with the density, or the mass per volume, of the ship (and its cargo) compared to the density of water. In this science activity, you will make little “boats” out of aluminum foil to explore how their size affects how much weight they carry and how this relates to the density of water.”
Academic Fun: Are you informable?
Check out another good lesson from Common Sense Education! “Test your news literacy know-how with Informable! Score points for accuracy and speed across three levels of difficulty in four distinct modes.”
Arts and Crafts: Spring Toilet Paper Roll Craft
