Reimagining School Readiness Do you wonder what research really says about how to support school readiness? The Reimagining School Readiness Toolkit is a suite of research-backed resources created for library staff to help families prepare children ages 0 to 8 for success in school and in life. State Library Services is offering a virtual workshop to introduce library staff to the research, practical implications, and resources offered in the toolkit. Join the workshop to: understand key findings from current cognitive and developmental psychology research reflect on the implications of those findings for their daily work gain practical, ready-to-implement ideas for activities, as well as resources for staff training and for parents/caregivers Register for Reimagining School Readiness. The workshop will be offered twice. When you register, you can choose which date to attend: July 22, 2021 from 1 to 5 p.m., or August 17, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Updates from Partners Searching for Summer Meals The Free Meals for Kids mobile app helps families and kids find free, nutritious meals at hundreds of sites across Minnesota, eighteen of which are public libraries. The app provides location, directions to the site and hours and days of distribution. Free Meals for Kids can be downloaded at Apple or Google Play app stores. Minnesota Writers Directory: June Spotlight The Minnesota Writers Directory, a project run by the Minnesota Center for the Book, connects writers across the state with people who want to hear more about their stories and their craft. Many Minnesota writers, including past and recent Book Award finalists and winners, are available for virtual events for classrooms, libraries, and beyond. Browse the site by author, genre, and Skype/Zoom availability to find a writer who is a good fit for your audiences. The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library is featuring a rotating list of writers from different genres each month who are available for virtual events. This month’s featured writers are Tony Dierckins, Patrick Cabello Hansel, and Nicole Kronzer. |
