We have been talking a lot about challenges to books across the country. And of course, you have seen all kinds of these challenges in your own news feeds.

It’s tough to know how to respond. You definitely need a challenge policy or procedure in your library, to give people a defined process for challenging a book. If your library does not have one, send us an email and we will send you a basic template that you can adjust to fit the needs of your library.

And it’s always good to have people gather to talk through problems before you have to face them.

So join in on this webinar:

The Iowa Council of Teachers of English will provide a series of Zoom meetings to walk teachers through the process of what to do when a book is challenged in your classroom or in your classroom library. The series will address issues such as finding your board policy on the review process and help you prepare in the event you experience a challenge. Resources and materials will be provided to add to your toolkit.
