Do you have an Amazon Wish List?

I admit to feeling conflicted on this one, but am passing on the info for you to potentially use and share around your school.

(I mainly feel conflicted because a decent community would support a school as the most important service provided for everyone; so teachers should not have to beg for items they need to teach. But, of course, we don’t live in a world where funders understand that more money poured into education means more money is available later when those graduates have great jobs, and that less money is needed to spend on punishing people later. Sigh. Some day.)

If teachers and school people are putting up Amazon wish lists, and getting help in providing some great education for students – then, awesome. I’m in favor of providing help for teachers!

Do you have a wish list for your library/media center? Have you thought about one? Does anyone else in your school have one? It’s something to consider.

Minnesota teachers create Amazon wish lists, ask for community support

“MINNEAPOLIS — The first day of school is right around the corner for students across the state. While students prepare for class, teachers are doing the same thing. This year, teachers are asking for a bit of help.

Many teachers have been creating Amazon classroom wish lists.

The lists contain various items to help teachers educate their students this year.

It’s not just markers, pencils, or books. Some teachers are also asking for help with decorations and equipment that will help make their classrooms feel safe and comfortable.

Many community members have jumped at the opportunity to take some of the financial burdens off of teachers.

“Parents who are also getting their own kids ready for school and buying school supplies [are] taking time to think about ‘well, what do our teachers need?’ as well. So, it’s really special,” said Vanessa Pujic, the principal at Minnetonka Christian Academy.
