Happier in the Library: Animals

It is not news to anyone reading this: working in a library is hard. Doing any kind of public-facing customer service work is always hard, and right now a lot of things are coming together to make it more complicated.

We can’t fix that for you. Sorry.

But this semester, we are going to provide small weekly stress-management/happiness builder ideas. They aren’t going to make all your issues magically solve themselves. But, everyone can use a reminder to take a step back and breathe.

One easy way to feel happier is to have a pet. If you have a pet at home, then spend some time talking to them, taking them for walks (as appropriate), and even just petting them. It can bring down your blood pressure, reduce your stress levels, and just make you feel chilled out and happier.

And what about those of us who can’t have a pet? Or, who need a pet around right this minute but we are at work?

Thankfully we have access to live webcams. Whew. Take a moment and enjoy watching some animals, without the pressure of paying for vet bills and all the other work that comes when they live at your house.

A wonderful site is Kitten Academy, with their 24/7 live stream linked at the top of this article.

FAQ * We are kitten fosters, trying to help rescued cats get adopted by loving homes. * We are located in Connecticat, USA. * This is live 24/7, forever. * The Kitten Academy Live Stream has been running continuously since April 20th, 2016. Check out the Denali Puppy Cam!

“As you watch the Denali sled dog pups learn and grow into loving and hard-working adults, remember that their names honor “the memory of not only the search and rescue dogs, but of the firefighters, law enforcement officers, and handlers that responded without hesitation in America’s time of need.”

  • You can watch the Denali Puppy Cam live here.
  • You can also see “pupdates” on the Denali National Park Facebook page.”

There are plenty of other live animal cams, and you can find one you enjoy to have some quiet time for yourself. Enjoy some relaxation with some adorable views.
