From our colleagues at St Cloud State’s Women’s Center, check out a cool movie screening coming up soon! It’s always exciting to go to a screening – you get to have the excitement of a cool experience, as well as being able to see an interesting new movie.

In Plain Sight: An Exploration of Experiences of LGBT Women in Minnesota and the Rural Midwest  

“Across media, the rural is depicted as hate-filled and reinforces the assumption that LGBTQ people cannot live safe, happy, and fulfilling lives in rural areas. The In Plain Sight documentary asks how we have come to imagine what life is like for LGBTQ people in rural places–and provides an opportunity to imagine it otherwise. The film interviews queer women in the upper Midwest, including St. Cloud, on their lived experiences.   

After the screening, participants will have an opportunity to discuss and reflect in small groups. Snacks provided!  

This event will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 6:00-7:00 PM in the Atwood Memorial Center building, Voyageurs South room.   

This event gives students, staff, and community members an opportunity to come together to learn, converse, and build connections. This event is open to the public. “
