This was another fun season! We have so many interesting counties in Minnesota; having this time to explore a small fact about each is pretty cool. And sharing books to celebrate each topic has helped all of us to find some new books to read and to recommend to everyone!
Browse through this archive of the entire season:
- This week we are celebrating Hennepin County. Barges and boats now pass through locks to move between the parts of the river above and below the dams; read a book with any type of boat or ship
- This week we are celebrating Pope County. One of the cities in this county is named Starbuck; celebrate this tenuous connection to the TV show Battlestar Galactica by reading a sci-fi book
- This week we are celebrating Stevens County. It contains the Everglade State Wildlife Management Area – a lovely area. To enjoy this county, we suggest you read a book about Florida.
- We celebrate yet another county in the CMLE library system: Todd County! All the libraries in this county are members, and we are so happy to have them here. This county is home to Guernsey Lake; celebrate this lovely place by reading a book with cows or farming
- This week we look at Pennington county. Its county seat is Thief River Falls – a beautiful area! Celebrate this by reading a mystery, especially a story with a theft.
- Rice County contains the Whitney Island Scientific and Natural Area. This week: read a book with science of any sort, particularly natural science.
- Pipestone County is named for the deposits of red pipestone used by Native Americans to make pipes. It is a beautiful area, with some lovely parks. This week: read a book with any type of smoking
- Brown County residents have a 150-year long history of baseball; celebrate this by reading a book about baseball.
- Today our prompt is inspired by Becker County! There is a time capsule in a park here, ready to be opened in 2065; read a book with a time capsule or historical monument
- Blue Earth county is named for deposits of blue-green clay once evident along the banks of the Blue Earth River. To celebrate this county, this week you can read a book with jewelry.
