Scout & Morgan Books in Cambridge, MN became a Top 10 finalist for the 2015 Independent We Stand -Independent Small Business of the Year Award in December. They were the only Minnesota business to become a finalist with 22,000 votes cast for 315 nominees during the nominations phase. This is exciting news in itself, but possibly the best part of this story is that Judith Kissner, the owner of Scout & Morgan had pledged to donate all of the prize money – $5000 to the Cambridge Public Library to help build their new building! Judith is currently on the task force to build the new Cambridge Public Library. According to Judith, “Public libraries have always been important to me and are an important part of any democracy. They truly are the university of the people.” Scout & Morgan is a locally-owned, independent bookstore that stocks over 25,000 used, new and out-of-print books and has been serving the East Central Minnesota region since 2002.
