Now that we’re finished with our AASL Recommended App posts for the year, it’s time for you to do your own exploring! YALSA has a great archive for you to use. The archive is a list of all the apps they have used as part of their App of the Week posts. Recommended App: RWT Timeline
Recently, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) came out with their 25 Best Apps for Teaching & Learning for 2014. The apps were chosen because they foster innovation, creativity, active participation, and collaboration.
One of the featured apps is RWT Timeline. The app lets students make timelines (organized by date, time, or event) using photos and text. AASL says, “this app has a lot of potential in social studies and science classes. Students may create their own timelines from history or use the app to share results from a science experiment or step-by-step instructions.”
The app is recommended for all grades K-12 and is available for free on Android and iOS. This brief video shows off the features:

Recommended App: Easy Portfolio
Recently, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) came out with their 25 Best Apps for Teaching & Learning for 2014. The apps were chosen because they foster innovation, creativity, active participation, and collaboration.
One of these apps is Easy Portfolio. This app allows users to save website links, videos, pictures, audio files, and other documents to their personal portfolios.
The app is recommended for all grades K-12. It is available for $1.05 on Android and for $1.99 on iOS. This quick video shows a couple of the things you can do on the app:

Recommended App: NOVA Elements
Recently, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) came out with their 25 Best Apps for Teaching & Learning for 2014. The apps were chosen because they foster innovation, creativity, active participation, and collaboration.
NOVA Elements made the list. Students can explore the interactive periodic table, build elements, play a game, and watch NOVA’s ‘Hunting the Elements’ videos. AASL says,”Students can use the touch screen features to build their own models of atoms and molecules. … Watch out, though – if you make a mistake the atom will explode!”
The app is recommended for grades 6-12 and is available for free on iOS. You can check out this informational video:

Recommended App: Photo Editor by Aviary
Recently, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) came out with their 25 Best Apps for Teaching & Learning for 2014. The apps were chosen because they foster innovation, creativity, active participation, and collaboration.
One of these apps is Photo Editor by Aviary. It offers stickers and frames to add to photos as well as touch-up tools and filters. AASL calls it, “a simple and easy introduction to photo editing.”
The free app is available on iOS and Android. It is recommended for all grades K-12. Check out their video showing how the app works:
