Remember to Vote: Join CMLE for our Fall Social Event!

We love connecting with our members in person! It’s even more fun when food is involved, so we are having another CMLE Social Event taking place at  Old Chicago in St. Cloud. This will be a dinner event beginning at 5:30pm, but we need your help picking a date! Vote below and we’ll send out a notice of the final date.

As a multitype library system, one of our main goals is to provide connections between all different types of libraries: schools, history centers, museums, academic libraries, etc! One of our favorite ways to do this is through hosting social events where people from all types of libraries are free to get together and chat about library life.

Thanks to all of you that have already voted! If you haven’t yet, tell us which dates could work for you! We can’t wait to hear all about your experiences in the library world this fall!

Vote for a date for our CMLE Fall Social event!

We’ve had so much fun at our past social events and we’re excited to put together our next one which will take place in the month of October.

In the past, members have been pleased with the choice of Old Chicago in St. Cloud as a dinner destination, so we will be going there again. However, we need your help to decide on a date! Vote below and we’ll send out a notice of the final date. 

As in the past, this will be a dinner social event that begins at 5:30pm. We like to keep things very casual with no agenda and the goal of simply meeting new people and talking libraries!

We hope you have your calendars marked to celebrate with us next Monday, August 21st at CMLE HQ!

We are having a Back-To-School and Solar Eclipse Celebration! Stop by between 11am – 2pm for snacks, a raffle, viewing of the solar eclipse (unfortunately we will not have viewing glasses available, but we will have an alternative: pinhole projection!) and of course, fun library discussion! Come chat with us about your plans for the upcoming school year, and discuss any issues or great ideas that you may have.

Just to give you an idea of what to expect: we will have Sun Chips, Sun Maid raisins, Moon Pies, Starbursts, and cheese (because the moon is made of cheese, of course!) for our snacks, as well as some healthier options, and beverages.

We will be raffling off some neat library and book prizes, and will even have a solar system themed playlist going! (Suggestions are welcome!)

If you can’t make it between 11am – 2pm, feel free to stop by throughout the day. We will be happy to see you and we did purchase extra snacks!

Mark Your Calendars: Welcome Fall and the Solar Eclipse with CMLE!

Monday, August 21st is going to be an exciting day! Not only will CMLE HQ be hosting a Back-To-School gathering for our members but it is also the date of the solar eclipse!

Join us at CMLE between 11am – 2pm  to celebrate a new school year and also the eclipse! We’ll have solar system themed snacks and music (and eclipse viewing glasses!) but also back-to-school decorations, a raffle, and of course, lots of great conversation about libraries and upcoming plans for the school year!

We really hope you can make it to celebrate the start of fall and return to school! Send us an email with any questions.

Celebrate back-to-school and the solar eclipse with CMLE!

Thank you to everyone that responded to our poll to pick a date/time for our back-to-school event! A majority of people picked Monday, August 21st for the celebration and we realized that is also the day of the solar eclipse!

From NASA: “On Monday, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights – a total solar eclipse. This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun and the sun’s tenuous atmosphere – the corona – can be seen, will stretch from Lincoln Beach, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. Observers outside this path will still see a partial solar eclipse where the moon covers part of the sun’s disk.” Sounds pretty exciting!!
