CMLE has found a new Executive Director!

Mary JordanWe are pleased to announce that Dr. Mary Wilkins-Jordan will soon be joining CMLE. She looks forward to working with CMLE members, the other six MN Multitype Library Directors, and the MN library community. She is also thrilled to return to the Midwest.

I want to personally thank the Search Committee for their careful attention to detail and process, and for including me as an ex-officio member of the Committee. Our overall goal from the beginning was focused on our CMLE members. We want to ensure that this change in CMLE leadership doesn’t disrupt the services you have come to rely on! Mary will begin on August 15th. She will work with me for two weeks to transition accounts and get the high points of being a multitype director. My last day at CMLE is August 26th.

Mary’s most recent experience has been as a library and information science professor at Simmons College in Boston. Although Mary has been an academic, her heart is in helping people in the library field. She was most attracted to this job because it will allow her to do just that! Mary also has experience as a public library director and exhibited a great sense of humor, which certainly helps in challenging times. Don’t let that doctorate worry you. Mary is knowledgeable yet grounded, and sincere in identifying herself as a librarian, first and foremost!

As some of our “seasoned” CMLE members have witnessed over the years, our services are dynamic and sometimes change based on member needs. There are always plenty of things that can be done differently and with a new perspective. Take every opportunity you get to weigh in on services that are important to you. I believe CMLE is in capable hands going forward and wish Mary and all of you the very best!

Introducing new CMLE staff: Angie Gentile-Jordan

photoHi, Patricia Post here….After six weeks of working solo, I am more than pleased to announce our new Office Administrator. I have asked Angie to write a few words of introduction here, and she can be reached at ajordan@cmle.org. Welcome Angie!

Hello! My name is Angie, and I’m excited to be the new Office Administrator at CMLE!

I grew up in St. Cloud, and graduated from St. Catherine University in 2012. My degree is in English, with a minor in Women’s Studies. I’ve worked in a variety of settings before, including retail, law, non-profit, and even trucking! I’m really excited to put my skills to work at CMLE, and help the organization connect and assist member libraries.

Currently, I live in Albany with my husband and our son Carson, along with a crabby cat named Stanley and our retired racing greyhound Lady Grey. In my free time I love to read, and try to mix it up with a variety of genres. I’m also training for my first half marathon, which will be a challenge!

I am looking forward to working with Patricia and member libraries, and can’t wait to get started!

CMLE welcomes new Office Administrator!

Sheri Olson, CMLE Office Administrator
Sheri Olson, CMLE Office Administrator

Hi, Patricia Post here! As John Meyerhofer left CMLE to begin his stint at Macalaster College, we needed a top notch office manager. They had to understand our members and their world, be able to write, while also being a whiz with logistics and details around events and our CMLE office! A tall order, but we think we have found her! Sheri Olson is her name and I have asked her to write a bit about herself….won’t you join me in welcoming Sheri?

I am so excited to be a part of CMLE!  I have been involved with books in many ways through the years.  As a child, while other kids were playing with dolls and trucks, I created my own library in my room! As an adult, I carried my love of books into the real world when I became the owner of two bookstores in the Zimmerman/Elk River area – Reading Frenzy BookShop and Reading Frenzy Corner.  As the owner and manager of these stores, I had hands-on contact with authors, publishers, libraries, and book readers of all ages. This gave me a great background in the book industry on many levels.

I also have a passion for event planning. Over the years I have organized hundreds of events – large and small for both non-profits and businesses. Some of my most recent endeavors include organizing author events at Scout & Morgan Books in Cambridge and ArtSoup Community Festival in Elk River.  I am very excited to assist CMLE with future events.

I also have over 25 years of experience working with and for non-profits.  The non-profit world is unique, challenging, and exciting all at the same time!  My experience has been quite extensive from assisting with simple office tasks, fundraising, event planning, leadership, and being a board member.

On a personal level, I have lived in the Zimmerman/Elk River area for 18 years.  I have been happily married to my husband, Mike, for over 31 years and we share our home with two rescued senior cats, Stormi and Sherlock.  I love reading!  My favorite genres are mysteries and memoirs.  And finally, I love to volunteer and I am active with several excellent non-profits.

I look forward to working with each of you and I hope that I have the opportunity to meet you at an event in the future.
