When you’re in a pinch its always nice to know you can fix a problem yourself… especially when it comes to computers!
Gizmodo to the rescue with their “How to Fix Most Any Computer Glitch By Yourself” guide. Some of the tips you likely know like rebooting and updating your applications, but the guide has some deeper investigation tips too.

Simple and straightforward can be used to describe the write-up by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) about the HTTPS communications protocol used on the internet. “HTTPS, the secure version of HTTP, encrypts all traffic between a web browser and a server,” and was originally only used when processing password and payments. “But that opinion has changed,” says EFF. Privacy has become a bigger issue and the cost of using HTTPS has gone down.
A recent study by Texas A&M University and the University of Louisville highlights the benefits associated with standing desks in elementary classrooms. The control and treatment groups were comprised of 282 students in grades 2-4 over one school year. Researchers found that the treatment group showed a 12% increase in the students’ ability to stay on task. Mark Benden, an associate professor who worked on the study, summed it up nicely by saying, “simply put, we think better on our feet than on our seat.”
