Please Complete the CMLE Needs Assessment

Q is for Question MarkIs your library or school a CMLE member? There is an easy way to find out….

  1. Are you a  staff member of a college, public, or  special library in one of the 12 counties in bullet 3 below?
  2. Or, are you school library media personnel including tech integrationists and media paraprofessionals?
  3. If you answered yes to 1 or 2, and you are employed in Aitkin, Benton, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd or Wright counties, you are a CMLE member!

Check your email inbox.  You should have received an email from CMLE on 3/16, 3/23, or 3/31/15 which included a link to the Needs Assessment.  For all who participate, there will be four chances to win a $25 Amazon gift card. Didn’t receive an email? Email us!

SUBJECT: Feedback on Public Library Accessibility and Improvement Grant Process

Online Meeting and Survey Available for Feedback

State Library Services is gathering information to aid in updating and revising the Public Library Accessibility and Improvement grant application and guidelines. A short survey has been posted and an online meeting/conference call is scheduled to get feedback directly from the library community. The survey will be available through March 31, 2014. The online meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 3, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Call in to 1-888-742-5095 or participate via WebEx. Pre-registration is not required; please join the conversation.

E-book Usage in K-12's is Rising

The data is in! Download School Library Journal’s 4th annual survey of eBook Usage in U.S. K-12 Libraries. Usage of eBooks in school libraries, especially at the high school level, is expected to continue to rise incrementally.

The survey extrapolates that an estimated $73 million was spent on eBooks in U.S. schools is 2012-2013. And since last years survey, the percentage of LMC’s materials budgets spent on eBooks has nearly doubled, with that percentage expected to more than triple by 2018.
