Students are consistently being reminded that they need to cite their sources! Citing sources promotes digital literacy skills, but many students struggle with citing their sources correctly. If you need some citation tools to recommend to your students, Edudemic has got you covered! Check out their post, 8 Tools that Make Citations a Breeze, which highlights the tools and gives an idea of which tools work best under different circumstances.
As the school year winds down and we start thinking of our summer plans, we often include a list of books to read. Kelly Dickinson’s booklist featured on YALSA’s (Young Adult Library Services Association) blog The Hub recommends some young adult thrillers for the coming months. Dickinson says the novels “take advantage of careful pacing to build suspense and hook readers from their opening lines.” The narrators of these stories are hiding secrets: “from other characters, from the reader, and from themselves.” You can check out the post for more details on her recommended reading:

Imagination Library is about to donate its 1 millionth book! The program, founded by country singer Dolly Parton, “distributes age-appropriate books to kids from birth to age 5 to promote literacy,” Stephanie Dickrell of the St. Cloud Times reports. The United Way of Central Minnesota has been taking part in Imagination Library for 10 years. The program has no income requirements and is free for any child. The books are delivered in the mail, along with reading tips for parents, and a child enrolled at birth will receive 60 books by the time they start kindergarten. Tony Terwey, the St. Joseph Postmaster, estimated that the St. Joseph post office sees about 200 book packages each month – and each of his 4 children have participated in the program.
