Mic Golden, Collection Development Coordinator at Great River Regional Library is currently on phased retirement.
Jake Grussing has been hired as the new Collection Development Coordinator at Great River Regional Library.
Morgan Hewitt, former Media Specialist at North Elementary in Princeton is now working at two media centers in Anoka.
Terri Kerwin will be serving both the Princeton Middle School and the North Elementary media centers in the Princeton School District this year.
Jeanne Skaj, Medical Librarian from the St. Cloud VA Health Care System – Medical Library retired from her position this summer after 36 years of government service.
Dana Woods, former Media Specialist at Maple Lake High School is now working at the Middle School and High School media centers in Cass Lake-Bena.
Ruth Zietlow, former Interim Dean of Learning Resources Services and Associate Dean for Library Services at St. Cloud State University, is now working at Metropolitan State University as an Associate Professor and Librarian.
Keith Ewing is now the Interim Dean of Learning Resources Services at St. Cloud State University.
More news from the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library in Collegeville, MN! As we reported in our December edition of the CMLE Exchanger Newsletter, the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library was selected as one of ten winners of the 2011 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. A recently released video available on the Institute of Museum and Library Services Blog highlights the work being done by the Director of the Library, Father Columba Stewart, and Dr. Getachew Haile, Cataloguer of Oriental Manuscripts and Curator of the Ethiopian Study Center, as they discuss the preservation of Ethiopian manuscripts.
On April 14th, nearly 800 people attended the Minnesota Book Awards Gala. During the event, winners in eight categories were selected and acknowledged, along with the Readers’ Choice Award. The nine winners include: BookSpeak! Poems about Books by Laura Purdie Salas for Children’s Literature, Fool Me Twice: Fighting the Lawsuit on Science in America by Shawn Lawrence Otto for General Nonfiction, Big Wheat by Richard A. Thompson for Genre Fiction, A Song at Twilight: Of Alzheimer’s and Love by Nancy Paddock for Memoir & Creative Nonfiction, Pioneer Modernists: Minnesota’s First Generation of Women Artists by Julie L’Enfant for the Award for Minnesota, The Law of Miracles and Other Stories by Gregory Blake Smith for Novel & Short Story, Whorled by Ed Bok Lee for Poetry, With or Without You by Brian Farrey for Young People’s Literature, and The Tanglewood Terror by Kurtis Scaletta for the Readers’ Choice Award.
Movers and Shakers was launched in 2002, and it spotlights librarians and others in the library field who are doing extraordinary work to serve their users and move libraries and library services forward. With the 50 members of the class of 2011, the group now exceeds 500.

The University of Minnesota – Twin Cities Libraries has been selected by the American Library Association/Association of College and Research Libraries to receive the 2009 Excellence in Academic Libraries award. This award recognizes the accomplishments of library staff “as they come together as members of a team to support the mission of their institution.” This is a wonderful tribute to the creativity, dedication, and excellent service that U of M staff provide to the campus.
