CMLE provides library support services to 319 academic, public, K-12 and special libraries in twelve counties of Central Minnesota. One of our biggest challenges is assessing both the interest and needs of so many different types of librarians/organizations.
Please watch your email for messages from us with a subject line “Quick Question.” These messages will include an easy link to a very short poll on Survey Monkey. We will always ask you to identify your library type first, then will ask a few, very quick questions. Promise, no more than that. Thanks in advance for participating in each poll as quickly as possible!
Feel free to contact me if you have questions, concerns or suggestions (papost@stcloudstate.edu)
Glogster is a fusion between a blog and an electronic poster. It allows educators to create a virtual poster about any given subject. So in terms of library uses, think about upcoming events, special reading programs, or guest speakers/authors, etc. This recommended application was highlighted by The eLearning Site and is offered as a free trial version tool with optional upgrades ($0.50/year and $39/year).
Here are four links to help you learn more;

We are excited to report that some of your colleagues (librarians/media specialists) have indicated their interest in helping us produce our What’s Happening blog posts. We are simply delighted in this interest and encourage you to consider joining in too. We will of course give guest bloggers a non-judgmental copy edit, give them their own byline, and include the title of their completed post in our Thursday CMLE Weekly Review email message. We are giving guest bloggers freedom in choosing what to write about and encourage them to use the space to share exciting news about “What’s Happening” in their world or to communicate what’s keeping them up at night.
When you see these guest bloggers emerge, please be sure to comment on their posts and give them kudos for their bravery in joining us in the blogosphere!
Jeff O’Neal editor of BookRiot wrote, “When news broke last week that Dan Brown’s new novel will center on some sort of mystery surrounding Dante’s Inferno, I immediately began hoping that there is a nutty, fun scene of Robert Langdon racing around a library just like he raced around the Louvre in The Da Vinci Code. Hollywood loves a library. Some combination of ambiance, seclusion, hidden knowledge, and the sheer beauty of shelves upon shelves of books make libraries a fantastic film setting.”
Is it possible that writing is just not your thing, but you love to talk about what you are doing or what you are excited about? If so, let us help you share your exciting news with others in the region!
CMLE staff is willing to interview you, write up the interview, get your review and approval, then publish it to our What’s Happening blog. Then, the completed interview post will be included in our Thursday CMLE Weekly Review email message.
Both our guest bloggers and interview activities support our resource sharing activities in Central Minnesota among academic, public, school, and special librarians. Please don’t be shy….join us in sharing important library news in this region! Contact us here!
