Let’s Build Together: Minnesota Librarians Implementing the ACRL Information Literacy Framework

ARLD Day Pre-Conference Workshop

When: 4/27/2017, 1-5pm

Where: Maplewood Public Library, Community Program Room

Description: Unsure about how to move ahead with the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy at your institution? Join the Minnesota Library Association Instruction Roundtable (IRT) for an interactive workshop designed to help you plan the next steps for your instruction program or individual teaching practice. This workshop is an opportunity to learn more about the rationale and philosophy behind the Framework, draw from the frames to develop student learning outcomes and assessment tools, discuss using the Framework for faculty outreach, and find out how other Minnesota librarians are putting the Framework into practice. After the workshop, attendees will be invited to participate in IRT’s ACRL Framework “23 Things” online program, an opportunity to utilize and implement the Framework through readings and activities while sharing your progress with colleagues across Minnesota.

Submit a Paper Presentation to the Distance Library Services Conference

The deadline for submitting Paper Presentation proposals for the next Distance Library Services Conference is April 23!

What is a Paper Presentation? The Paper Presentation format requires that you write a paper and then present at the conference. Your paper will be published in both the conference proceedings and later in special issues of the Journal of Library & Information Services in Distance Learning. Your presentation is an opportunity to share issues, findings or conclusions related to your paper.

The average attendance for the past three conferences was 273, so in addition to your paper being published in the Journal of Library & Information Services in Distance Learning, you will benefit by presenting at a smaller, focused conference with ample networking opportunities.

Proposals should fall into one of three general tracks:​

  • Teaching & Learning (e.g. technologies, strategies, instructional design, assessment, best practices, successes/failures)
  • Marketing & Outreach (e.g. advocacy, assessment, collaboration, strategies)
  • User Experience (e.g. assessment, best practices, initiatives, student success)

If you want to share your research, projects, or ideas with others providing library services online or at a distance, this conference is the place to do it! Submit your Paper Presentation proposal soon!

Museum Computer Network Gives Scholarship

“The Museum Computer Network (mcn.edu) was founded in 1967 with the purpose of supporting professionals who seek to transform the way their cultural organizations reach, engage, and educate their audiences using digital technologies. Every year MCN explores topics of relevance to museum practitioners working with, or affected by, digital media and technology. In 2017, MCN is focusing on how museums can use technology to innovate and emphasize transparency, individual action, and institutional bravery. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in Pittsburgh, we welcome applications for our scholarship program.

MCN is offering scholarships for 15 qualified applicants to attend the annual conference.
