We are here to talk about books and share library ideas!

This season we are exploring all new ideas for books and book suggestions, so you can expand your reading horizons, and share more information with your library community. We are looking at prompts from the 2023 PopSugar reading challenge this season. You can read along with their challenge, linked in our show notes, or just enjoy some different books. 

It’s spring time! When everyone’s fancy turns to thoughts of love – of books! It’s a time of melting snow, flowers growing, green everywhere; and it’s also a time for all kinds of new books to try. This week we are looking at books that have just been published, and are ready to enjoy all sorts of new, interesting stories.

This is, of course, a book group. And every book group needs to have beverages, so you really get the feel for your reading! 

We are celebrating the season of spring, and all the lovely new books that are publishing now, with some fun cocktails from the article 18 Spring Cocktails to Enjoy in the New Season.

Cherry Blossom

Ingredients

1.25 oz 1800 Silver Tequila

1 oz lime juice

1 oz grapefruit juice

.25 oz grenadine

Grapefruit slice or maraschino cherry for garnish

Salt as needed

Instructions

Pour all ingredients into shaker and shake well. Strain into a salt rimmed martini glass or serve over ice. Garnish with a grapefruit slice or cherry.

The Garden Rose

Ingredients

1 oz Volcan de mi Tierra Blanco

.75 oz St Germain

.75 oz simple syrup

.75 oz lemon juice

4 shakes rose water

1 muddled strawberry

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into coupe glass. Top with cava and garnish with mixed dried flowers

Genre Discussion:

Spring! It means all sorts of lovely new books for us to enjoy. No matter what your preferences are in genres, you will have something to read, something new to try. Spring means it’s time for possibilities that you can try, and new possibilities to share with your patrons. Maybe you like to read books in a series; maybe you like stand-alone stories. Maybe you like your books to be the nonfiction variety. It’s the season for new beginnings, for new things to happen, and to discover new books and authors.

Backpacking Through Bedlam, by Seanan McGuire

Good Dog, Bad Cop: A K Team Novel (K Team Novels #4), by David Rosenfelt
