The Library Information Technology Program at Minneapolis Community & Technical College is a great oppurtunity to expand your knowledge and will equip you with the practical and conceptual skills needed to work in highly automated libraries and information agencies. Students can earn an A.A.S. Degree in order to become a paraprofessional or transfer to a 4-year college, or earn an undergraduate certificate. Both the degree and the certificates are offered in a fully online environment. Degree options:

Mental Floss recently asked 20 writers what one book would they want if they were stranded on a desert island. Some of the choices are fun reads while others are classics. From Pride and Prejudice to Harry Potter the writers ran the gambit. Some unique choices included the Complete Calvin and Hobbes collection and James Patterson’s choice to bring paper because “if one was looking to kill time on an island, it takes a bit longer to write one than to read one.”
Drones aren’t just for the military anymore. With cheap models flooding the market, schools are finding new and exciting ways to engage with their students and, more importantly, improve learning. Quiet time isn’t just for preschoolers anymore! The benefits of less stressed, healthier, and ready to learn students have even been shown to improve student behavior. A middle school introduced a Quiet Time program which consisted of two periods, 15 minutes each when students could choose to sit quietly or meditate. The benefits? The school saw a 50% reduction in suspensions and a 65% reduction in truancy!

Do you need storytime lesson plans? Then look no further than the new Minnesota Storytime Hub. A recently announced home for storytime lesson plans created for and by Minnesota librarians. Check out the announment from MN State Library Services:

The Minnesota Storytime Hub houses an easily accessible set of high quality resources that streamline storytime planning, increase awareness of materials used successfully in storytime practice, and allow professionals to share quality early literacy practices.
