Another chance to go to DC!

CMLE members (and others!) – if you are working with teens, and would like to go to Washington DC for Library Legislative Day – YALSA wants to help you!

Check out this opportunity below:

Due to the fact that the White House’s budget proposes eliminating all federal funds for libraries, YALSA’s Board has re-opened the travel stipend application in order to send an additional member to Washington DC to advocate for teens and libraries. The stipend, funded by Friends of YALSA, will enable one qualified recipient to receive up to $1,000 to attend ALA’s 2017 National Library Legislative Day, which will be held in Washington, DC, May 1-2, 2017. Apply by April 10, 2017.  Applicants will be notified the week of April 17, 2017.  Here is the application:

ALA Diversity Research Grant available!

The American Library Association (ALA) Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services seeks proposals for the Diversity Research Grant program. Applications may address any diversity-related topic which addresses critical gaps in the knowledge of diversity, equity, and outreach issues within library and information science.

The application deadline has been extended to midnight central time on April 15, 2017.

The Diversity Research Grant consists of a one-time $2,500 award for original research. A jury of ALA members will evaluate proposals and select up to three awards. Grant recipients will be announced ahead of the 2017 ALA Annual Conference. Researchers are invited to present interim findings at the News You Can Use Diversity Research Grant Update held each ALA Midwinter Meeting and are asked to publish findings in a publication of their choosing within one year of completing their project.

MANGO/NMRT Professional Development Grant

Apply Now for the 2017 MANGO/NMRT Professional Development Grant

Deadline: Tuesday, March 7, 2016 at 5 pm (EST)

We are excited to announce that members of ALA’s New Members Round Table (NMRT) can apply to receive a $1000 grant, which will assist with expenses to attend the ALA Annual Conference, June 22 – June 27, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. This award is generously sponsored by MANGO Languages.

You must be a current member of NMRT in order to apply. To join NMRT, visit the ALA website and follow the “Join ALA” link to add NMRT to your ALA membership, it is well worth the low cost!  Successful applicants will show their attendance at ALA will impact their home institution, NMRT or another ALA organization, and their personal professional development.
