“The YALSA Legislation Committee wonders if you would share an example of a time you helped mobilize teen participation for a social justice or advocacy cause. We’re collecting examples!
It could be an example of a time you encouraged high schoolers to write a letter to their school board, or an example of the time you took a group of teens to your local representative’s office to advocate for library funding.
We want to know what you did, how, and why!
The joint ALA/SAA/AAM Committee on Archives, Libraries, and Museums (CALM) needs your help!
In the spirit of true inclusion we are seeking your thoughts on the current state of inclusion in libraries, archives, and museums (LAMS).
In preparation for our annual programs at ALA and SAA we are soliciting the CALM listserv for assistance in compiling questions about the current state of inclusion in LAMS. At both programs we will engage six different panelists about the issues and challenges surrounding inclusion in LAMs and how well we are doing (or not doing) in addressing them.
What are the biggest roadblocks or obstacles to creating inclusive environments and what are some examples within your own community (even if not within your own organization)? Do you have a specific question that you would like to see addressed during the sessions?
Please send feedback to CALM co-chairs, Elizabeth Call (ALA) and Lynette Stoudt (SAA). We look forward to hearing from you by Friday, April 14!
I am announcing a new project: “Let’s Move! Libraries.” At the project website you will find information on movement-based programs in public libraries throughout North America (think yoga/tai chi/Zumba in the library, StoryWalks, music and movement, walking groups, etc.). The overall goal of this project is to strengthen work already underway in public libraries that seeks to get our communities up and moving.
If you work in a public library in Minnesota, please consider taking a few minutes to fill out this short survey about any programs or services your library provides, has provided in the past, or is planning to provide in the future. The results from this survey will be shared on the project website in Fall 2017.
Please share this message with others you think may be interested in this project. Thank you for your time! I look forward to your feedback.
Whether or not you have a library degree, you work in the profession and you know the ideas, skills, and other things that are important to you and your workplace. Share those! Your voice, and your experience, is important here!
“The Simmons College School of Library and Information Science is conducting a brief survey intended to identify core skills and knowledge areas for the MS(LIS) program. We are interested in which skills and knowledge areas you perceive to be most needed in the field now, and in the near future. Your responses will help as as we review and continue to revise and improve our curriculum to ensure our graduates are well prepared for the job market.
Your responses are important. The survey should take about 5 minutes to complete. Please access the survey and respond by Monday April 17th.
ALSC’s 2017 Emerging Leaders Team invites you to take a three minute survey to help them in studying the potential for new pathways to library leadership for youth and school librarians. Leadership for this survey is defined as the career roles of manager, director, supervisor, etc. The team will present its research and findings in a paper to be released in late June.
